So what is a manuscript evaluation?

As a high-level analysis, a manuscript evaluation is the perfect diagnostic tool to identify key problem areas in a manuscript before it is submitted for a deep-dive edit.

So you've done your own revisions but you're not quite ready to commit to a full edit or you just don't know what kind of editing your manuscript needs. A manuscript evaluation is a great way to get professional feedback on both the content of your manuscript and what next steps you should take.

A manuscript evaluation will highlight the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript by commenting on:

  • Overall Structure

  • Character

  • Dialogue

  • Story

  • Pacing

  • Organization, etc.

In a manuscript evaluation, I read your full manuscript and take notes on what I think works and what could use some more work. I write up an editorial letter that is broken up into sections like the topics listed above. In addition to my comments on the content, I will also recommend an editorial plan that will have the best impact on your manuscript.

This is a great place to dip your toes in the editing pool and get that first set of professional eyes on your work. If you're interested, let's get talking and get that ball rolling!
